Two Rivers Magnet Middle School (6-8)

Program Overview:

Environmental science and technology is the unifying theme at Two Rivers. Located on the banks of the Connecticut and Hockanum Rivers, the history, geology, and environmental diversity of the rivers provide a living laboratory for students. Students study and research environmental issues and local environmental problems, and learn to design scientific experiments, models, and prototypes resulting in projects worthy of state and national science competitions. In addition to the emphasis on biology, physics, chemistry, and earth science, students have a full middle school program available to them, including art, music, physical education/health, technology education, and foreign language. Students are challenged daily with rigorous classes in math and have been “published” in a wide variety of literary magazines. As a part of the NASA Explorer School network, students participate in a variety of video conferences and learning sessions with astronauts, rocket scientists, and engineers from NASA and industry partners. Based on the 2010-11 enrollment data, the school meets the state integration standard.
