Program Overview:
The Connecticut River Academy (CTRA) is an early college high school operated by Goodwin College on our campus on the Connecticut River in East Hartford. Learning at the Connecticut River Academy has an environmental science focus, but students are offered the full range of high school courses. A large number of credit-bearing courses are offered at Goodwin College to qualified 11th and 12th grade students. CTRA studies are tied to real-world skills and utilize cutting-edge technologies, utilizing MacBooks and SmartBoards to access our web-based learning system. Block scheduling and an extended day provide time for in-depth explorations and enrichment as well as additional supports for students. Internships will be available, including joint programs with many institutions throughout the area. The new school, to be built by 2013, will be located on the banks of the Connecticut River, with its own dock and new research vessel available for student use. Based on the 2010-11 enrollment data, the school meets the state integration standard.
