Breakthrough's programming and special environment develops students' character, training them to be:
Student enrichment opportunities include: Two play productions per year, Breakthrough in-school News Broadcasting, raised-bed and roof garden design and maintenance, Project Adventure and mindfulness courses, Nature's Classroom, Spanish, 6th-8th grader laptops, and instrumental music. Middle-schoolers enjoy: seminar/advisory classes, diversity/high school/college and career awareness. School vans support expanded use of Greater Hartford venues for learning, athletics, and contributions. Teachers receive training in inquiry-based learning, interdisciplinary teaching, our unique character curriculum and encouragement in instruction. Based on the 2010-11 enrollment data, the school meets the state integration standard.
